While the bar may seem appealing from the exterior , what I encountered behind its doors was disturbing and far below any standard .

From the moment I entered , it was apparent that hygiene was not a priority at this establishment . The ground was covered in grime , and a foul smell of uncleaned spills and neglected washrooms permeated the entire establishment . With a smell of a mixture of ammonia , putrefaction and a sickly smell. The bar area , which should be the focal point of any pub, was overflowing with soiled cups and debris that looked like it had accumulated over weeks. The bathroom was in even more deplorable shape — backed up, with a snapped lever and walls covered in what I can only assume was human excrement .
It wasn’t just a single bad experience either. After reading through multiple accounts and chatting with the community, it seems that the standard of sanitation (or lack thereof) at Masterson’s is a well-known flaw . Many visitors have reported seeing bugs darting across the drink station and traces of mice in the basement . For a business a fantastic read that caters to patrons, these issues are utterly disgraceful and raise serious concerns about the safety of the food and drinks .
